When are Elections held?

Elections are held to elect Parish officers and to elect members of the States Assembly.

A public election is held to elect:

  • the Connétable of each Parish; and
  • Deputies for each constituency (a group of two or three Parishes, or each of the Parishes of St Brelade, St Clement and St Saviour or one of three areas within the Parish of St Helier (Central, North or South)).
  • from June 2026 there will also be island-wide elections for 9 Senators.

Parish elections are held to elect the Centeniers and the Procureurs du Bien Public of each Parish.

Dates of forthcoming elections will be advertised on the Parish website, the Church notice box, the Jersey Gazette (online) and also on vote.je.

Elections for Connétables, Senators and Deputies were held on Sunday 7 June 2026; the next elections will be in 2030.

If you meet the criteria you may apply to register as an elector. Apply online (link below) or complete and return the PDF form to your Parish Hall.

An election for one Procureur du Bien Public in each Parish is held every 18 months. The next elections will be September 2027 with nomination meetings held in each Parish in early summer 2027 (if there are more candidates than vacancies a poll will be held). Those elected will take the oath of office in September 2027.

Elections for Centeniers are held every 9 months. The next elections will be held in December 2026.

The time, date and place of the nomination meetings are advertised in the Jersey Gazette online. To vote in an election your name must be included on the electoral register by midday on the day before the nomination meeting.

Elections for 12 Connétables (one for each Parish), for 9 Senators (island-wide election) and for Deputies in constituencies (a group of parishes, a parish or a parish district) are held every four years. Elections were held on 7 June 2026 (see vote.je for information and results).
