Liberation Creative Competition
ST BRELADE LIBERATION CREATIVE COMPETITIONS
We invite parishioners to enjoy exercising their creative talents in a couple of ways over the following weeks.
Submissions of work in the following categories will be judged and put on public display and winning entries reproduced in the La Baguette editions over the course of this year. Winners will receive a special booklet : ‘St Brelade’s Occupation Memories’ and a book token for the Under 9 art section. Exhibitions of the entries are also planned !
We are asking for a piece of original prose or poetry , no longer than 500 words , on the theme of
‘Living under German Occupation’.
Or create an original drawing or painting, minimum size A4, maximum size A3, on the theme of ‘Liberation’.
In the writing competition there are 3 sections for judging by age : 9yrs up to 13yrs, (Junior section),
14yrs up to 16yrs( Teenage section), and over 17yrs( Adult section). In the art competition in addition to these three sections is an Under 9yrs section.
Please note these important rules: for written work, typed text on one side of A4 paper (or papers) only, so that the author’s name and address and contact telephone number can be written on the reverse, (on all if more than one paper). Also the age of the author is to be stated for submission in the Junior and Teenage sections.
The title should appear as the first line and is not part of the 500 words.
Written work will not be returned to the author. It is a condition of entry that winning texts are allowed to be published in La Baguette. There is a possibility that all entries will be put on display so the public may enjoy reading them.
For the artwork : title, artist’s name, address and telephone number on reverse please. Also an age if the artist is under 18years. If you wish the artwork to be returned please make the request (along with the address) Artworks will go on display for the week of May 5th 2025 in the parish. The location will be announced nearer the time.
All competition entries are to go to the Parish Hall in St Aubin and the closing date is May 1st. Winners will be notified before the end of May.
