Annual Returns 2026

Rates (Jersey) Law 2005

Annual Returns for 2026 have been sent to all owners of land, houses, buildings and other structures within St Brelade.  They should have been returned to the Parish by 15 January 2026.

Any owner who has not received their Annual Return should contact the Parish Office immediately on (01534) 741141 or [email protected].

By virtue of this Notice each owner shall be taken to have been served with their Annual Return and it shall not be an excuse for non-compliance for an owner to show that an Annual Return was not served on them.

Any person who failed, without reasonable cause, to submit their Annual Return by 15 January 2026 is guilty of an offence.  Parish Hall Inquiries are being organised for those owners who have not  submitted their Annual Return and a fine not exceeding £200 may be anticipated.

Transfer of Land: Where ownership of land is transferred, written notice of the transfer must be given by both the former owner and the new owner, to the Connétable, within seven days of the date of transfer.  A person who fails to do this without reasonable cause is guilty of an offence.

Change of name or address of owner or occupier: Where an owner or occupier on 1 January 2026 changes their name and/or address, the person must give notice to the Connétable, within seven days of that change. A person who fails to do this without reasonable cause is guilty of an offence.
